Artist Residence vs. Artist Residency
Splitrock Studios has been designed and built specifically with artists in mind. More than just a temporary artist residency, the intent is that artists will stay here for longer spans of time, opting to live in our small artistic community rather than renting a traditional apartment and studio.
This is a place to live your full life, not just your artistic one.
Our artists might be in their studios every day of the week, or maybe they are weekend warriors — all are equally valid and important to provide space for. We know that not everyone fills their days the same way, so we provide a home base that nurtures the life you want to live.
Who is Splitrock Studios for?
Creatives wanting to recharge their practice amongst nature.
Individuals motivated by surrounding themselves with creative energy.
Artists looking for a space designed with them specifically in mind.
We welcome artists at any stage of their practice and across disciplines: visual arts, performance, music, writing, and interdisciplinary work. We do not require any specific project proposals or bodies of work to be produced during your time here; this is simply a residence that is set up to provide you the space and opportunity to create how you’ve always wanted to.
Artists interested in renting at Splitrock Studios should be prepared to be a part of a small community, with shared kitchen and living space. Artists will still have ample personal space within individual studios, full private bedroom suites, storage space, and a kitchen outfitted with dedicated fridges and cabinets for each artist.
Splitrock Studios is designed to provide space for individual artists. Due to local zoning laws, only three residents are permitted to occupy Splitrock Studios at any given time. Because of this, we are regretfully unable to house partners, spouses, or children.
Our hope is to cultivate a community of varied perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.

Splitrock Studios is still in active construction. As things develop, we're continuing to refine the details of the live/work experience, but our vision remains the same: to create a place where artists can live, work, and build meaningful creative lives.
